Co-Teaching!

The Co-Teaching Toolbox was created to support general and special educators as they come together to build truly collaborative, inclusive classrooms. This space is rooted in the belief that all students deserve access to meaningful, grade-level instruction, and that strong co-teaching can make that possible. Here, you’ll find practical tools, strategies, and structures that are not just theoretical, but designed to be used right away to support all learners in real, everyday classroom moments.

Co-teaching is more than two adults sharing a space—it is a shared commitment to planning with intention, teaching with purpose, and showing up for every student. When done well, co-teaching creates opportunities for deeper engagement, stronger relationships, and increased access to learning. It allows us to meet students where they are while still holding high expectations for all. Research supports that co-teaching leads to more individualized support and improved outcomes, but beyond that, it creates classrooms where students feel seen, supported, and capable of success.

Why I created the Co-teacher toolbox.

I created the Co-Teaching Toolbox out of my own experience working in an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classroom and realizing how powerful—yet complex—true collaboration can be. As a teacher, I have seen firsthand how students respond when instruction is accessible, structured, and supported in real time. I’ve also experienced the challenges that come with co-teaching, especially when there isn’t a clear system in place for planning, roles, and communication. There were moments where I had to figure things out as I went, and I often wished I had a space that brought everything together in a clear and practical way.

This site is a reflection of what I’ve learned through my classroom practice, my work with diverse learners, and my commitment to inclusion. My goal is to create a resource that supports new co-teachers in building strong, effective partnerships while keeping student needs at the center. I believe that when teachers are supported, students are supported. Co-teaching has the potential to transform classrooms, not just academically, but by creating spaces where all students feel valued, capable, and included. This toolbox is meant to make that work more accessible, more intentional, and more impactful for both teachers and students.
